ABOUT THE COURSE
This 24-hour course is designed to help new or experienced background investigators in complying with POST Training Mandates and Regulations, state and local laws, and best practices in the background investigation process. It covers the essential legal foundations, liability concerns, and best practices for interviewing and document review, emphasizing practical, hands-on approaches to ensure thorough investigations. Key Learning Objectives: Understanding the legal aspects of the investigation process. Understanding the role of the background investigator. Exploring mandatory areas of investigation required by POST. Identifying and using information sources effectively. Mastering pre-employment interviewing techniques and best practices. Understanding social media and the applicant. Properly assembling the background package. Understanding POST audits and the decertification process.

By submitting your registration information, it does not guarantee registration for the class. Registration will only be confirmed once payment is received by our office and you receive a confirmation email from Cooke & Associates, Inc. Payment must be received no later than 25 days prior to the start of the class. Cancellation Policy: Due to limited seating, we kindly request that any cancellations be made no later than 15 days before the start of the class. You may cancel by sending an email to backgrounds@cookepi.com. If you cancel within 15 days of the class, no refunds will be provided, but you will receive credit toward the next available class. All credits must be applied within 12 calendar months of the original class date. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your tuition to another qualified student at no additional cost. However, the cancellation policy will apply to the new student, and it is your responsibility to notify them of the terms. To transfer your funds, you must email Cooke & Associates from the same department email address used during your original registration, as only department emails are accepted.
