Cooke & Associates is pleased to welcome Retired Chief Brian Brady to the leadership team as Executive Director in charge of Public Safety Backgrounds. In this role Brian will lead CAI’s background department to provide public safety partners with the most detailed, P.O.S.T. complaint backgrounds, allowing clients to make informed hiring decisions.
Brian is a native San Francisco resident, as well as an accomplished law enforcement and security professional with over 30 years of experience. He has served the law enforcement communities of both California and New Mexico, and in 1982 he joined the Novato Police Department as Captain of both the Operations and Services and Administration Divisions. Brian was then appointed Chief of Police, where he was responsible for leading a department of 100 employees and delivering police services to 55,000 Novato residents.
Committed to the principals of community policing, Brian assisted in the development of the city’s first Police Advisory and Review Board and the Multi-Cultural Oversight Committee. In 2004, U.S. Representative Lynn Woolsey recognized Brian’s work at the Capital in Washington; “Brian Brady’s inclusive vision for police work promotes the best in our communities.”
Brian holds a Master of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Golden Gate University.
“I’ve known Brian for over 20 years, and as respected law enforcement leader, his service and commitment to the law enforcement community is unmatched,” said CEO Harry Arruda. “With his leadership and expertise as Chief of Police, I’m looking forward to having Brian on our team and excited about the enhancements he will bring to our background program.”
